We all know that grocery stores get tomatoes that are selected to be shippable and have a long shelf life. In the early summer, when locally grown tomatoes, selected for their flavor become available, it’s time to celebrate. Here’s a half dozen ways I celebrate fresh, uncooked tomatoes. Let’s talk about summer squash. Don’t be afraid to branch out from zucchini! We’re going to talk about summer squash varieties, how to select and store summer squash, and most importantly how to cook summer squash.
According to the calendar, summer begins in a couple of weeks. But I say it just started as we received our first heirloom tomatoes of the year! We also got some summer squash, purple carrots, red beets and a nice head of lettuce.
Here we are with week 10 of the Elysian Fields Farm CSA. Look at the gorgeous cauliflower in the center of the photo! Also, beets with greens, carrots with tops and (summer’s around the corner) zucchini!
This week’s Elysian Fields Farm CSA score included Beets with their greens, sugar snap peas, spinach, cabbage and fennel bulbs including the fronds.
Week 8 of the Elysian Fields Farm CSA brought me broccoli, celery, radishes, sugar snap peas, spinach and arugula.
Time is flying. It’s already week 7 of the 2021 Elysian Fields Farm CSA. This week we get broccoli, beets, lacinato kale, arugula and a head of red summer crisp lettuce.
This week, I found scallions, swiss chard, spinach, arugula and lettuce in my CSA delivery from Elysian Fields Farm.
This week, Elysian Fields Farm sent me some baby bok choy, radishes, carrots, baby kale and a lettuce mix.
This week’s CSA provided some wonderfully wacky looking kohlrabi along with curly kale, peppery arugula, mixed lettuce and cilantro.
This is the 3rd week of my Elysian Fields Farm CSA. As always, a nice variety of produce, and ever evolving week to week.
